Nicole Bradbury (she/her) is a writer and editor based in New York. With roots in the performing arts, she received her BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts in 2020. Guided by mentors who knew of her congruent love for reading and writing, she was introduced to The Movement Research Performance Journal, an experimental performance-based publication centering writing as a space for “rehearsal”. Now, she is an editor at the MRPJ and has spent six years absorbing the intricacies of the editorial process. This experience has led her to work on editorial and curatorial projects with institutions such as The Whitney Museum of American Art, Wesleyan University, and Bennington College, among others. She has also worked with independent artists on their own writing and creative practices, including creative writing, essays, and grant or residency applications. She is currently enrolled in the University of Chicago’s Editing Certificate program, where she will spend the next year deepening her editorial craft.

The Editorial Approach

I recognize that writing and art-making are vulnerable, often revealing our innermost thoughts and feelings, most of which are encouraged to stay hidden otherwise.

I’ll analyze your work with equal parts precision and room to breathe, leading with in-depth knowledge of the form as a rough outline, and welcoming otherness and experimentation with curiosity. A seed of an idea is just as important as something fully fleshed out, and I will tend to both (and anything else in between) with the same level of care.
