Movement Research Performance Journal Issue 56 is the second installment of no before no after, conceived by co-Editors-in-Chief Joshua Lubin-Levy and mayfield brooks, continuing MRPJ's legacy of engaging contemporary choreography and performance through poem, prose, image, interview, and a wide range of formats. Building on Issue 55's question of how to make a journal in the absence of live performance, Issue 56 holds two trajectories in tension: questioning the brutal calculus of an art economy that demands the show go on, while shedding light on the utopian practices reshaping how performance communities work together and what they're working toward.
